The Krog Street Tunnel is a message board or direct record of the change of the community — in terms of social, cultural, and political attitudes over time. Using a variety of photography equipment, and regimented data collection, we can capture this change throughout the entire tunnel. A majority of this is was done by using a Ricoh 360 Theta Camera, and its associated software.
Each 360 time-lapse video was shot at one of the tunnel’s 60 pillars to show the constantly changing graffiti at specific points in the tunnel. The pillars are numbered sequentially, starting from the Krog St side of the tunnel on the left side (1-30) and continuing on the Dekalb Ave left side (31-60). The pillar time-lapse videos run at 2 frames per second, meaning each second is about two weeks of 360 camera shots.
These pillar videos will be added to its model pillar in the Matterport 3d scan “dollhouse,” as well as youtube, and the forthcoming digital archive.
