Owen Cantrell

Dr. Owen Cantrell received his Ph.D. from Georgia State University in 19th Century American Literary Studies in 2015. His work investigates the relationship between labor and literature during a time of great industrialization and urban growth. He has also written on Midwestern literature and Bruce Springsteen’s connection to American folk music.
He has partnered with Common Good Atlanta at Phillips State Prison to develop curriculum programs as part of the GSU Prison Education Project. Dr. Cantrell’s work with the EPIC Program is a Project Lab that educates students about college-in-prison programs and gives them first-hand development experience in these programs.
